Our Weekend in NYC

Our last weekend out east we decided to go visit Jim's brother and our sister-in-law, Dave and Anna and their daughter, Madison in New York City. (Was that awkward enough? Should I have said "Our brother and sister-in-law?" I don't know. Nothing works!) They've lived in Queens for almost six years now, but they're planning on moving to North Carolina in a couple of months so it was our last time to visit them in the city. Unfortunately for us, Mother Nature decided to take her vengeance on the beautiful week we'd been having and it rained cats and dogs the whole time. And the wind blew like crazy. Apparently there were 75mph winds reported somewhere in the city, and from what we saw I'd believe it! We had debated doing different things in the city, but with the weather we decided to lay low for the most part, and had a really great time just visiting and hanging out at home. It was fun to see Lily and Madison play together. They've both matured quite a bit since Christmas, which meant that there was a lot more playing and interaction, which was fun. We did venture out for a few hours on Saturday, though. We went to Manhattan to go to the Sony Wonder Technology Lab which is a free (indoor) museum that has a bunch of interactive stations that are supposed to show you how technology can impact your life. We just had fun playing with everything! Anna cooked a couple of great dinners for us, including an authentic Japanese dinner, which was very delicious. All in all it was a super fun weekend and we were glad that we were able to get out there to spend it with them!

While we were there, Lily got her birthday present from Dave, Anna, and Madison!

They were these Easter eggs with Easter-themed Little People in them. Super cute!

Here we are on the bus from Queens to Manhattan. We weren't sure how Lily would do since she obviously started out tired, but the Sony place was interactive enough that she did well, and Burger Heaven had french fries... what else do you need? :)

We had lunch at Burger Heaven, which was really yummy. We had thought about going to Shake Shack, but there is no indoor dining area and we didn't really feel like freezing our tushes off. (But there wouldn't have been much of a line...) :)

And despite the pelting freezing cold rain, she zonked out on the walk from the subway to the house. Crazy kid!

Lily and I are now back home in Idaho safe and sound. Jim has a few more days working, but will be home soon too.
