Kindergarten (Preschool) Graduation!!

School is out for the summer, and I'm so excited! Even though Lily only went to half-day preschool this last year, it feels like such a relief to all be home together and have our days to ourselves. I love it! But before summer vacation, Lily graduated from preschool! The class she was in this year was half Kindergarten, and half Preschool, so half of her class is moving on to first grade, and the other half (including Lily) will be in Kindergarten next year. I loved Lily's school and teacher this last year, and part of me would love to keep her at CCS, but private school just isn't in the budget, so we're going to go with the Kinder Center next year. The public schools here are good from what we've heard, and I know Lilypie will thrive wherever she is!

Lily was excited to get to wear her fluffy dress for graduation.
Clementine was pretty stoked as well.
And Goo likes to make goofy faces.
Mrs. Rude leading in the Kinder class.
My little sweetie pie!
Lily is between her two bff's, Mallory and Julianna. I think what I'll miss most about moving her to public school is her not being in school with these two sweet girls.
They sang a few songs, and Lily and Mallory were goofing off just a tiny bit.
Mallory telling what she learned in school this year.
Lily said that she learned "all about worms" in school this year. Reading? Sure! Writing? Of course! But the important part was the worms!!
Julianna telling what she learned.
Merit (another church buddy) saying what he learned.
Elijah (the last of the 5 church kids in her class) telling what he learned. This is the boy that Lily has decided she's going to marry when she grows up. I told her she has a long time to think about it, but she always says, "I don't need to think about it! I've already decided!" (Kind of reminds me of THIS video, except that Elijah says he's going to marry Lily too.)
Hi Mom!
Getting her diploma from Mrs. Rude.
Shaking Mr. D's hand.
All graduated!
Besides the Kindergarten graduates, there was one lone 8th grade graduate, our good friend, Katie. She bravely gave a very sweet speech about her time at CCS. It may have brought a tear to my eye. :)
Post graduation cake!

On the last day of school, there was an awards ceremony where each teacher gave an award to each of their students. Some of the teachers did academic awards, but Lily's teacher decided to do character awards. Lily got the Kindest Classmate award, and we are so proud of her! One of Lily's best qualities is her kind spirit and how she wants everyone to be included in everything. I'm not one bit surprised that she got that award, because I know what a sweet girl she is, but I am very proud! She also got the Tabitha award, which is a character award given to a few students who display outstanding character. We're so proud that she is growing into such a sweet young lady who is kind and caring to her classmates!

Preschool!

Today was Lily's first day of preschool! Our church has a small Christian school, including a preschool, and we decided that Lily should go to preschool there. Although it's a big step to have her away from us for half the day, since she's in an environment she knows well, around people we know and trust, it's not too bad.

Since we got home late from vacation last night (more on that later), Lily needed a bath this morning, which made us not-exactly-early for her first day. Here she is getting her hair dried.

Showing off her sass in her little uniform. I bought one of those shoe holders that hangs in your closet for Lily's school clothes. Each compartment has an outfit in it, down to the socks and undies, so when it's time for her to get dressed for school in the morning, there's a complete outfit ready for her! She was pretty excited about her school clothes!

She was also extremely excited about her new backpack, which has a giant cupcake on it. Speaking of which, I need to go find her backpack...I think there was a letter to the parents in it! Oh, she's also SUPER excited because I put out a giant bowl of snacks so that she can choose her own snack to bring to school each day. Responsibilities galore for this one!
She found her seat in her new classroom!

Giving Daddy a bye bye kiss. I doubt kissing Daddy goodbye will be a first day of school occurrence for very many years. Enjoy it while it lasts, Jim!

This was Grace on the ride home from dropping off Lily. She was sad to see her Pie-pie go.

Lily said her first day of school went well. I asked her what she did and she said she couldn't remember, but could she pleeeeease go play on the playground now? Sigh. Maybe tomorrow when she's not so excited I'll get a better answer.
