First Day of Kindergarten

Today is Lilypie's first day of Kindergarten! I was more nervous about Kindergarten this year than I was about Preschool last year, which seems strange since you'd think I'd be used to the school routine. But Pre-K was at our church surrounded by people I know, and who love her like their own, so this is breaking new ground, sending her off to public school.

We started off by eating some yummy eggs!

Grace enjoyed her eggs too. Clementine was still sleeping, which makes me wonder, did anyone ever feed her when she woke up? I don't remember, Jim did you do it? Hmmm....
Jim enjoying his eggs.
My morning coffee!

Our big Kindergartner all ready to head off to school!

She looks so big and pretty!

I love Daddy!

I love Mommy!

I love my sisters!

I wasn't expecting to be able to stay with Lily, so I didn't bring my nice camera. But it was kind of a free for all on the first day of school, so I got to go watch her play on the playground, and snapped a few iPhone pics. She enjoyed playing, and even made a new friend. She'd run up to me every couple of minutes and would wave or give me a hug. I kept thinking I should leave, but every time I thought about it, I'd start to tear up, and I couldn't call her over to say goodbye. So then the bell rang, and I walked her to her classroom.

She was so excited to have a locker. She wanted her locker buddy to be her friend, but I'm pretty sure her locker buddy is in the afternoon class.

She was so excited to be in the giraffe class. Giraffes are her favorite, and she just happened to be put in that class!

After seeing her to her room, safe and sound, I finally gave her one last hug and kiss and entrusted her to the Lord, and left. I'm so excited to hear how her first day went! One more hour!!!!

Preschool!

Today was Lily's first day of preschool! Our church has a small Christian school, including a preschool, and we decided that Lily should go to preschool there. Although it's a big step to have her away from us for half the day, since she's in an environment she knows well, around people we know and trust, it's not too bad.

Since we got home late from vacation last night (more on that later), Lily needed a bath this morning, which made us not-exactly-early for her first day. Here she is getting her hair dried.

Showing off her sass in her little uniform. I bought one of those shoe holders that hangs in your closet for Lily's school clothes. Each compartment has an outfit in it, down to the socks and undies, so when it's time for her to get dressed for school in the morning, there's a complete outfit ready for her! She was pretty excited about her school clothes!

She was also extremely excited about her new backpack, which has a giant cupcake on it. Speaking of which, I need to go find her backpack...I think there was a letter to the parents in it! Oh, she's also SUPER excited because I put out a giant bowl of snacks so that she can choose her own snack to bring to school each day. Responsibilities galore for this one!
She found her seat in her new classroom!

Giving Daddy a bye bye kiss. I doubt kissing Daddy goodbye will be a first day of school occurrence for very many years. Enjoy it while it lasts, Jim!

This was Grace on the ride home from dropping off Lily. She was sad to see her Pie-pie go.

Lily said her first day of school went well. I asked her what she did and she said she couldn't remember, but could she pleeeeease go play on the playground now? Sigh. Maybe tomorrow when she's not so excited I'll get a better answer.
